Microfinance Ireland supports small businesses that can’t get finance from a bank. Check the criteria below to see if your business qualifies for a loan.

Business requirements

The business must find it difficult to get a loan from other financial providers. If the loan is for a vehicle, you will need a decline letter from an asset finance provider.
At least one full-time job must be created or sustained in the Republic of Ireland. One full-time position is 37.5 hours per week.
You have fewer than 10 full-time employees on the date of application, and had fewer than 10 full-time employees in two of the past three years.
Annual turnover must be less than €2m excluding VAT, or the annual balance sheet total (Fixed Assets + Intangible Assets + Current Assets) must not exceed €2,000,000 for the full fiscal year immediately preceding, or in 2 of the last 3 years.
Your business must not be on our excluded sectors list.

Applicant requirements

Applicants must be over 18 years of age.
The business must be located in, and registered in, the Republic of Ireland.
The applicant must reside in their private residence on the island of Ireland (32 counties) for 10 months of the year.
The applicant must have an Irish PPSN. For limited companies, this includes Executive Directors/Shareholders with a shareholding greater than 25%, or any natural person whom MFI deem to be in control of the business.
We cannot lend to any individual or associated business entity while that individual is in a Personal Insolvency Arrangement (PIA) or bankruptcy process.
